Abstract

This case report describes the treatment of a 22-year-old man with skeletal Class III malocclusion, unilateral cleft lip and palate, narrow maxilla, and anterior crossbite. The treatmentincluded extraction of the mandibular right canine, maxillary expansion using rapidpalatal expansion appliance, and distalization of mandibular dentition with miniscrews.
Two miniscrews were placed in the interradicular spaces between the mandibular secondpremolars and first molars. The total active treatment time was 13 months. Normal anterioroverjet and overbite were obtained, and the Class III molar relationship was corrected.
